Advanced Pet Imaging Services Offered
Effective treatment begins with an accurate diagnosis. Our board-certified radiologists are available upon referral to assist with the following:
- 16 Slice Computed Tomography (CT)
- Digital radiography
- Radiographic contrast procedures
- Echocardiography (ECG)
Striving to remain on the forefront of medical technology, the veterinary team at the Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center is excited to promote our new 16 - Slice GE CT Scanner. CT (computerized tomography) scanning uses computers and an rotating x-ray to create 3-D images of any part of the body. Unlike traditional x-rays which only highlight dense body parts, such as bone, CT also provides detailed views of the body's soft tissues. This not only provides tremendous insight into many diseases but also allows our specialists to thoughtfully plan surgical or radiation treatment, and accurately stage cancer. This imaging enables our specialists to provide the most accurate prognosis possible, in a non-invasive, painless procedure. Our new scanner enables us to perform CT scans much faster than older technologies. In many cases we are able to obtain images using only sedation, rather than general anesthesia thereby minimizing the risk of anesthetic complications. Each CT scan is evaluated by a board certified radiologist.
In addition, with a new state of the art cardiac catheterization laboratory with c-arm fluoroscope, we offer interventional cardiology and interventional radiology by board certified specialists.
Our goal is to assist you and your pet’s primary veterinarian to make the best decisions for the treatment and care for your pet. Our veterinary team of board-certified specialists works closely with your family veterinarian because we believe in a comprehensive approach to health care and diagnostics.
